Magazine cover analysis.

This issue of Vibe magazine features Dr. Dre and Eminem as the cover stars. The two dominant colours on this cover are white and yellow, yellow stands out because it's the colour of the title, which is the largest piece of writing on the cover. White is used for smaller writing and the connectives in the rhetorical question that introduces the two artists on the cover. The rhetorical question on the front suggests another song is being released from the collaboration of Eminem and Dr. Dre. The bar code and the date of the magazine are both in the bottom left corner, the bar code is vertical rather than the stereotypical horizontal style. The small piece of writing above the title of the magazine gives information about other artists who are from the same genre of Eminem and Dr. Dre. Marshall and Dre are both wearing lab coats which collaborates well with the question 'What are Eminem and Dre cookin' up?' The artists themselves show the character of them both, Dre looks serious about what he is holding which is stereotypical of his character in previous music. In opposition to that, Eminem is holding an item that he seems to be confused about. He doesn't look serious like Dre does, this is stereotypical of Eminem's 'alter ego' Slim Shady, who isn't serious about anything.

This issue of Rolling stones magazine features Eminem as the cover star. The two dominant colours for this issue are red and black, these two colours are placed on a light grey/silver background which presents the colours well. The biggest writing that is on the cover is 'EMINEM REBORN' which is written in a red font and is an attractive subtitle which grasps an audiences attention. The title itself is also written in red and is of a similar size font, the title is in a different font to any of the other writing that is on the page, this makes it stand out and it also makes it easy to identify. The minor headings that are found the edge of the cover are either red or black and provide information as to what is in the magazine, the font for all of these are bold and strong which is appealing to the target audience. Eminem himself is pointing directly at the camera which makes him seem like he's is almost coming out of the magazine. Marshall is also wearing an Adidas Originals jacket which is a brand associated with hip-hop, this cover is one of many where Eminem has featured as the cover star. The first time he appeared on the cover was in 1999 on the 811th issue of Rolling Stones magazine, the 811th issue is the following cover...
 811th issue of Rolling Stones.

This issue of XXL magazine features The Notorious B.I.G. as the cover star, the title of the magazine collaborates well with the cover star in the sense of 'XXL.' There are three dominant colours on this cover, these are; white, red and black. The two largest pieces of writing on this cover are both in white, one being the title 'XXL' and the other introducing the cover star 'The Notorious B.I.G.' The black font is used to write minor headings which are based around Biggie, the red font is used to write one minor heading and then used to write a subheading underneath the name. The bar code is found in the bottom right corner and is in the stereotypical horizontal style. The Notorious B.I.G. is wearing a suit and has a hat that is inspired by gangsters from the 1930's - 1940's which is a look that the mafias of these times adopted, it represents formality and the idea of doing business. Biggie also has a large cigar in his mouth, this portrays the idea of him being wealthy.
